SPARK: Faces of Technology Innovation
The University of Virginia has a long legacy of producing technology entrepreneurs who are leading the way in innovations from sustainable food production to health care at home and abroad. We’ve invited some of them to share the stories of their journeys from when they started here at UVA to where they are today. We will also introduce next steps that students who are just beginning their entrepreneurship journey can take to follow in the footsteps of UVA’s technology entrepreneur leaders. We hope you walk away from this afternoon with the knowledge that if they can do it, you can do it too. The presenters will speak for 10 minutes, culminating with 1989 computer engineering graduate Karen Druffel’s insights gained from building a software consultancy into a multimillion dollar company and shepherding it through an acquisition. Please RSVP at http://spark18.splashthat.com

Paramount Presents: National Theatre Live in HD – King Lear
Broadcast live from London’s West End, see Ian McKellen’s “extraordinarily moving portrayal” (Independent) of King Lear in cinemas.
Chichester Festival Theatre’s production received five-star reviews for its sell-out run, and transfers to the West End for a limited season. Jonathan Munby directs this “nuanced and powerful” (The Times) contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tender, violent, moving and shocking play.
Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends.
