Charlottesville Tomorrow recently reported in an
interview with Alice Washington, that after more than 20 years of redevelopment promises made and broken over and over again, after 20 years of advocating for better living conditions for herself and fellow Crescent Halls residents, renovations are about to begin on the eight-story building with 105 public housing apartments for seniors and people with disabilities.
Don Gathers, organizer with Public Housing Association of Residents (PHAR), one of the organizations instrumental in advocating for the redevelopment of Crescent Halls, and Ms. Washington, president of the Crescent Halls Tenants Association, will join us to share how all of this finally came to be and what's next for this senior community as renovations get underway.
The mission of the Chamber Aging in Place Business Network is to provide education about local businesses and services that support personal choice and vitality in the second half of life, and to provide a forum to develop relationships with the members of the roundtable who serve in that community.
