The mission of the Chamber Aging in Place Business Network is to provide education about local businesses and services that support personal choice and vitality in the second half of life, and to provide a forum to develop relationships with the members of the roundtable who serve in that community.

Educational Segment: "Transcendental Meditation and Its Effect on Aging"
Rev. Don Lansky, Certified Transcendental Meditation Teacher

Learn about Transcendental Meditation and some of the research relating to aging and neuroscience and the research that is ongoing. Don will cover what TM is, how it works, a review of some of the research, and how to learn.

Don began practicing Transcendental Meditation in 1970 and became a TM Teacher in 1974, having personally studied with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the U.S. He taught TM full-time for 8 years and has been teaching part-time ever since. Don was the director of TM Centers in Syracuse, NY, West Palm Beach, FL, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was also a state coordinator for the TM program in Wisconsin and Upstate New York.

In addition to teaching TM, Don has been the senior vice president of The Cruise Line, Inc., a Miami-based cruise travel agency for 13 years, building the company from $100,000 in annual sales to $65 million by the time he left. In 1998, Don entered seminary in Lee's Summit, MO. Two years later he was ordained as a Unity minister. He and his wife, Patricia, moved to Charlottesville in 2001, where they have been serving as co-ministers at Unity of Charlottesville for the past 18 years.
